In 1997, under the vision of generosity and goodwill of the late Bill Black, The Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex was created.

Mr. Black felt is was his civic duty to do something to improve the quality of life of Quincy's Northwest neighborhoods.

​

An ardent boater, Bill had noticed for years that minority and other disadvantaged youth would swim in the Quinsippi Bay or the dangerous water of the Missipii River due to the lack of access to a public swimming facility in the Northwest side of Quincy.

As he neared the end of a generous and productive life, Mr. Black proposed a public swimming facility on the sight of the former Jackson School at Eight & College, ownership which had previously been transferred to the City of Quincy. The Swimming Complex officially opened on August 2, 1997.

Thanks to Bill Black's generosity and efforts of the other generous community members, Quincy has an excellent facility consisting of a large swimming pool with diving well, a fine wading pool for young children, shower and concession facilities and a filter house. The complex is leased to the Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex, Inc, a nonprofit organization.

We have since hosted 15 years of weekly Family Fun and Swim Nights, sponsored by Blessing Health Systems. Giving access to community members an evening of food, music and swimming for free! In addition, we have trained and certified over 30 Lifeguards with lifesaving abilities.
